FEBRUARY 2026

Last weekend was the last round and final of the North Coast series at Evans Head where our Open Mens crew took out the win in their division – The crew consists of Matt
Collins – Sweep, Tom Adams, Mitch Rodd, Andy Fisher and brand-new rower Benny Gorman. The crew are looking forward to getting some consistent training over the next
few months as they train towards the business end of the season!

Our Reserve Mens crew consists of 4 new rowers – Matthew Smith, Martin Brennan, Caleb Waterman and Finn Martin who have been putting in the training and developing
their skills over the last few months will be competing in the ASRL in a few weeks time along with the Opens to test themselves against the best in the country!
Prior to last weekend's carnival both crews competed at Tugun in early January which was a SLSQLD selection round for representative crews for the Australian Open
interstate event in February, so all the QLD crews were in attendance.

The reserve's crew made the final. This was only the 4 th time in the surf for this crew so it took some courage and learning skills on the job for them to get out and back each
time. Unfortunately, in the final the crew hit a set on the way out and took a back shoot filling the boat with water. They still managed to complete the course and cracked a
crowd-pleasing wave home. The surf had the last say though and on the shore dump, the boat stood on its nose and they all had a swim. It was a hot day so I am sure it was
planned.
The open men had 2 firsts, including the final race, a second and a third to win the day! They beat the current Australian representative crew from Currumbin and the highly
fancied Mermaid Beach crews among others to claim the win. Matt tells me they had a lot of luck but showed some impressive surf skills as well.

Both crews will be putting in a lot of work over the next few months and will be representing the Coffs Harbour club at the ASRL, NSW State and Aussies.
