Coffs Harbour SLSC Annual Awards – 2024/2025 Season

Congratulations to all our award winners for the 2024/25 season! These awards recognise the hard work, dedication, and community spirit shown by our members both on and off the beach. Here’s a summary of this year’s winners:

Mark Wilson Award – Marissa Hauville & Billy Brasier

Awarded to Youth members who have shown outstanding service and dedication to the club across the season.

Youth Lifesavers of the Year – Ethan Dawson & Payton Lawler

Recognising young members who have gone above and beyond in their patrol duties, training, and involvement in our club.

Patrol of the Year – Patrol #3

Awarded to the patrol team that demonstrated the highest standards in teamwork, attendance, and lifesaving performance.

Lifesaver of the Year – Ryan Bear

Presented to a patrolling member who consistently demonstrates leadership, skill, and commitment on the beach.

Club Person of the Year – David O’Leary

Recognises a member who has made significant all-around contributions to the club through volunteering, support, and leadership.

Geoff O’Brien Award – Ryan Bear

Acknowledges outstanding service to lifesaving and the club, awarded for exceptional commitment.

John Mills Award – Indi Harris

Awarded to a youth member who shows great character, sportsmanship, and involvement across Surf Sports and training.

Club Competitor of the Year – Sam Carswell

Awarded to the top-performing athlete who represented the club with outstanding results and sportsmanship.

Youth Competitor of the Year – Maddison O’Leary

Given to a youth competitor who achieved excellent results and consistently trained their best throughout the season.

Team of the Year – Aaron Beavis & Grant McConnell (35–39 yrs Double Ski)

Awarded to a team that achieved the top result at competition, showcasing their determination and teamwork.

Master Competitor of the Year – Aaron Beavis

Recognising an athlete in the Masters category who achieved strong results and consistently represented the club.

Mark ‘Zippy’ Gawne Adaptive Competitor of the Year – Sara Bergen

Presented to an adaptive athlete who has shown dedication, improvement, and strength through inclusive sport.

Coach of the Year – Phil Evans

Awarded to a coach who has made a big impact on athlete development, team culture, and performance.

Official of the Year – Louise Mengel

Recognises the contributions of an official who has given their time and expertise to ensure fair, smooth-running events.

Rookie (Boatie) – Andrew Fisher

Awarded to a new surf boat rower who has shown great potential and commitment in their first season.

Rower of the Year – Matt Collins

Recognising the rower with outstanding performance, leadership, and contribution to the surf boat team.

Chisel Filapek Award – Darcy O’Rorke

Awarded to a member who had an unfortunate accident at a boat carnival.
