Geoff King Motors Boaties take on Woopi Beach

The Geoff King Motors Coffs Boaties had their first outing of the season at Woolgoolga Beach on the 20th and 21st of November. Four Crews contested in Open Men, Reserve Men, Women and Masters 160s.
All crews performed well with the Reserve Crew taking out their division across the weekend. The ladies rowed reserve women Saturday winning 4 out of the 5 races and competed in open women on Sunday finishing second to the hosts. Shout out to one of our junior rowers, Lexi French stepping up for her first surf boat carnival on Sunday, Lexi looked at home up in the bow seat and we are excited to see what our junior girls can accomplish at their first carnival in January .

The ‘Train Wrecks’ masters crew finished second overall in their division. The A’s were a little rusty on Saturday and did not have any luck in the tricky surf conditions, however they performed better on the Sunday finishing second overall to Wauchope Bonny Hills.

It was a great first hit out and crews will compete at Hawks Nest this coming weekend against crews from the Hunter and Central Coast branches.

It’s exciting to see some momentum in our shipping department, we have some old and new faces coming together to form some solid crews, there’s a whole lot of potential in the coming months  with a bit of hard work and of course luck from Mother Nature.Any cadets ages 14 and up who are interested in surfboat rowing we have an open gym training session for our rookie development squad Wednesday’s 4.30pm at the club, everyone is welcome to come along and learn how to row on the ergos. We will also be holding an overnight development camp in January over the holidays, with the date to be advised . If you’re interested in joining in contact Rach on 0488577546 .
