Youth Lifesaving Support and Guidance

  • Non Competitive
  • Challenge Based
  • Encouraging Voluntary Participation
  • Assist Access to Courses and Experiences
  • Progressively Demanding
  • Recognition of Achievement

The aim of this program is to decrease time needed to establish what courses and experiences are available to CHSLSC youth members. The program is incentive based. The YEP rewards participants for the completion of levels (Based on age requisites).

A youth member who completes a First Aid Certificate (age 10) can progress to other awards with guidance until age 18 years.

The pathway is also designed to assist club officers to determine who can be considered for major end of season awards.

The Youth Engagement program is open to all boys and girls (15 – 18 yrs) who wish to undertake personalised lifesaving training who live locally. The YEP adheres to NSWSLS policies and procedures.

The YEP is a candidate based system. It encourages participants to apply for access to available SLS courses and club experiences via self nomination.

PLEASE NOTE: Parental or guardian endorsement is required for participants to complete courses, training and to attend all club events i.e. camps, carnivals etc.

Mentors are integral to the success of our program. We ask mentors to work in our program to support and guide youth participants. Mentors ultimately walk alongside participants encouraging and supporting their progress.
