16 Jan Coaching Weekend and Surf Sport Sessions with Dan Norton-Smith
COACHING – John and Marge Mills Coaching Bursary
Dan Norton-Smith is visiting our club on 4th and 5th February. His visit will coincide with our club championships. Dan is making the trip down on invitation to assist with our coaching development.
Dan’s achievements include:
- 8 x Open Queensland and Australian Champion Club – (Northcliffe SLSC) Assistant Head Coach.
- Coached multiple State, Australian and World Champions.
- Coached the first Surf Sports Athlete to win the Triple Crown in one season – Liz
Pluimers (North Burleigh SLSC).
We are looking forward to a busy weekend with the majority of Dan’s time spent with our youth members on Saturday. Details will be made available via Team App.
Members who have been training for championships (Country, State and Australian) with our club coaches are encouraged to attend the water sessions and beach sessions.
All club members 15 to 19 years are encouraged to stay for Dan’s dry sessions in the club. This age group has been chosen due to the requirements from SLSNSW to be eligible for a coaching qualification.
We are planning another series of days in 2025 to accredit more of our youth members in coaching: biannually.
With careful planning and funding we’ll maintain this initiative. The funding is sourced from the John and Marge Mills Coaching Bursary.
