The boaties are into the swing of all things surfboats with a few new and familiar faces jumping onboard for the 2022/2023 season .
With a base of 6 crews the momentum is building with the focus of a concerted team effort to build the surf boat culture within the club .

We kicked off our North Coast Boat Series campaign at Yamba with some solid results to get some points on the board.
With a few key rowers absent it was a massive team effort to fill crews across the divisions.
Our reserve mens crew the “Devon Sandwiches” stepped up racing in both the Open Mens and Reserve divisions over 2 days of competition.
Young gun Darcy O’Rorke helped out the Open Women “Chiko Rolls“ filling the 2nd bow seat in messy surf conditions on the Saturday.
And our Masters Mens crews the “Trainwrecks “ and “Sausage Sangas” helped each other out in both the 160 and 200 divisions to fill all seats.
In testing conditions on Saturday our rowers did what we do best, row in messy surf embracing the chop and wind whilst managing an evolving shallow bank over the course of the day. It was a great opportunity to practice surf skills and chase some runs on the way home. Shout out on Waldo back up on the big stick for a big day out rowing and sweeping.
Sundays racing was a big contrast to the previous day as the competition was moved to the river due to the conditions. Despite the flat water all rowers stepped up with some impressive racing and results across the rounds. It was an opportunity to hone technique and test fitness in flat conditions there was little room for error.
Across both days of racing our rowers showed we can handle whatever is thrown at us working together to put our best foot forward as a club to accrue maximum points for the club point score .
We now look towards rounds 3 and 4 of the North Coast Boat Series on the 19th and 20th of November at Woolgoolga, we would love some local support, all are welcome to come and join us under the tent for some great spectating and surfboat action.
WANTED
- Junior rowers ages 15 and up. Our focus is to develop a junior male boat crew.
- Female rower for the open womens crew experience preferred but not essential.
